The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will be responsible for the financial management of power generation projects, ensuring cost control, contract administration, and commercial risk management. They will work closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maximizing profitability and maintaining compliance with contractual obligations. Key Responsibilities 1. Cost Management & Budgeting: Prepare and manage project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts. Monitor costs and provide regular reports on financial performance. Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage variations. 2. Contract Management & Administration: Review, negotiate, and manage contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, etc.). Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions. Manage contract variations, claims, and disputes. 3. Procurement & Supply Chain Management: Source and manage subcontractors and suppliers. Conduct tender analysis and award contracts. Ensure procurement aligns with project financial objectives. 4. Valuations & Payment Applications: Prepare and submit interim valuations and applications for payment. Assess subcontractor applications and issue payment certificates. Ensure accurate and timely invoicing. 5. Risk & Change Management: Identify, assess, and manage financial and commercial risks. Implement strategies for mitigating cost and contractual risks. Support project teams in managing change control. 6. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide commercial reports to senior management and clients. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and finance teams. Support decision-making with financial insights and analysis. Qualifications & Experience ✔ Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. ✔ Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) is desirable. ✔ Experience in the power generation, energy, or heavy engineering sector. ✔ Strong understanding of commercial and financial management principles. ✔ Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or power generation projects. Desirable Experience Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, biomass). Understanding of grid connection and electrical infrastructure. Familiarity with government and utility regulations
