Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working with a Water Solutions client to recruit an Operations & Maintenance Technician in Rickmansworth, South-west Hertfordshire on a Permanent Basis.
Summary:
The Operations & Maintenance Technician is responsible on a day-to-day basis for carrying out maintenance activities and operating the treatment processes associated with the WTP (Water Treatment Plant) on a client site in Rickmansworth. As well as daily operational routines working with the onsite Operators, the technician will be expected to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities as part of their role, working to a maintenance schedule on a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
The role is Monday - Friday 40 hrs per week, and 1 week in 3 out of hours on-call.
Key Objectives:
1. Operate the water treatment plants and associated equipment to ensure that water quality and quantity produced is within the specifications required by the customer.
2. Carry out maintenance and ensure timely completion of all PM and CM activities through the CMMS safely, responding to breakdowns in a timely manner.
3. Carry out duties in a safe manner to ensure that there is a minimum risk of harm to people or the environment.
4. Communicate with other members of the NSI and Customer teams to ensure that there is a good level of understanding regarding plant performance, activities to be carried out and any impacts on site-wide operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work within the client and NSI HSE systems.
2. Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI.
3. Work closely with the NSI UK wide maintenance team(s).
4. Issue permits to work for other NSI maintenance and subcontractor engineers (training provided).
5. Ensure effective recording of activities and breakdowns through the CMMS.
6. Develop risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks for approval.
7. Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI.
8. Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI employees and sub-contractor staff.
9. Carry out isolations and deisolation's etc., as required to allow others to carry out work on the assets.
10. Proactively manage external relationships with the client and sub-contractors.
11. Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity.
12. Identify faults, evaluate rectification measures and make initial recommendations.
13. Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on electromechanical systems and instrumentation.
14. Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.
15. Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices.
16. To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
17. Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff.
18. Undergo training as required and identify training needs.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
1. Extensive experience of carrying out mechanical maintenance.
2. NVQ / City & Guilds or other qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or significant relevant experience.
3. Training in Health & Safety.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
1. NVQ / City & Guilds or other qualification in Electrical Engineering and/or significant relevant experience.
2. Knowledge of Water Treatment Plants, UF, RO, Ion Exchange process or any other production/process related plants Operations.
3. To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, the capacity to interpret technical information from drawing, P&IDs, data sheets etc.
