Location: Berwickshire (across Connect BYP centres with some remote working)

Role Purpose
The Pathways Project Worker will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive support to young people aged 11-25 and their families within the local community. As part of the Connect Pathways initiative, you will address the challenges posed by the rising cost of living through one-on-one mentoring, group sessions, and workshops focusing on financial literacy, mental health, and access to essential services.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people and their families by providing practical resources, immediate financial relief, and ongoing guidance to help them navigate their challenges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, deliver, and evaluate one-on-one mentoring sessions, group activities, and workshops focused on financial resilience, mental health, and life skills.
2. Facilitate hands-on cooking sessions and workshops in the recently revamped kitchen, supporting families to learn practical, budget-friendly cooking skills.
3. Incorporate eco-friendly and energy-efficient practices, such as promoting the use of air fryers and multi-cookers, into project activities.
Support and Guidance:
1. Provide direct support to young people and families, including referrals to additional services as needed.
2. Assist families in accessing benefits, emergency grants, and resources for budgeting and money management.
3. Distribute financial resources such as vouchers to address immediate needs.
Community Engagement:
1. Build strong relationships with young people, families, and partner organisations to foster trust and collaboration.
2. Promote the project within the local community to increase awareness and referrals, particularly from schools and other local organisations.
Monitoring and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate records of all activities, sessions, and outcomes to meet project requirements.
2. Contribute to the evaluation of the project by providing evidence of impact and success stories.
3. Work closely with the existing team and volunteers to ensure the project’s goals are achieved.
4. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of new ideas and initiatives.
Person Specification
1. Experience working with young people and/or families in a supportive role.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
4. Understanding of financial literacy and mental health challenges faced by young people and families.
5. Commitment to promoting inclusivity and sustainability in all aspects of the project.
6. Access to a vehicle and a full driving licence (Berwickshire public transport is challenging).
7. Qualifications in youth work, social work, or a related field.
8. Experience in delivering workshops or group activities.
9. Knowledge of local services and networks within Berwickshire (Scottish Borders).
10. Experience with monitoring and reporting on project outcomes.
Additional Information
1. The role requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work.
2. The successful applicant will be subject to a PVG check.
