E-Drive Controls Engineer
Are you passionate about developing the next generation of electrified, connected, and intelligent powertrains? Do you have a strong background in e-drive and power electronics control systems? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for this exciting opportunity!
A leading automotive company is looking for an experienced e-drive and power electronics controls engineer to join their UK R&D Centre and lead their work in this area. You will be part of a dynamic and cross-functional team that is at the forefront of transforming the powertrains of their passenger car business.
Responsibilities
As an e-drive and power electronics controls engineer, you will be responsible for:
1. Supporting the development of e-drive and power electronics control systems
2. Capturing and analysing requirements from different stakeholders
3. Designing control algorithms & strategies (using MATLAB/Simulink) and autocode generation of production intent code
4. Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
5. Development of diagnostic and safety monitoring strategies
6. Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicle
7. Providing expertise for investigations and problem-solving activities
8. Supporting system and hardware DFMEA and functional safety analysis
9. Managing the technical delivery of suppliers
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic or Control System Engineering
2. Proven experience working with real-time embedded control systems
3. Background in Electrical Drive control software development
4. Experience of developing and testing control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink
5. Knowledge of power electronics topologies and simulation techniques
6. Knowledge of electrical drive topologies and their drive control
7. Experience with data logging and calibration tools (INCA, CANalyzer, CANape)
8. Experience of using automotive communication protocols: CAN/ CAN FD
9. Experience of using and applying automotive software quality
10. Direct experience is essential with preferably some of this within the Automotive Industry
11. Experience of applying system engineering methods
12. Strong numeracy and literacy skills, including the ability to write clear documentation
13. Excellent communication skills and able to work as part of a cross functional team
14. A working knowledge of Functional Safety Standard ISO26262 would be an advantage
15. Experience of working with hybrid and battery electric vehicles would be an advantage
16. Experience of undertaking DFMEA at System and Sub-System level, with good logical reasoning
17. Organised and able to prioritise effectively
18. Eligibility to work in the UK
