As an Apprentice Accounts Assistant, you will support the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks while gaining valuable hands-on experience and working towards a relevant qualification. Responsibilities may include processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, assisting with payroll, maintaining financial records, and handling general administrative duties.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Processing supplier invoices, matching them with purchase orders
• Assisting with supplier statement reconciliations
• Chasing outstanding payments from customers
• Preparing and processing payment runs
Bank & Financial Reconciliations
• Reconciling bank transactions and investigating discrepancies
• Assisting with month-end and year-end financial processes
• Preparing reports on cash flow and outstanding debts
Financial Record-Keeping
• Maintaining accurate records of financial transactions
• Filing and organizing invoices, receipts, and financial statements
• Assisting in data entry and updating accounting systems
Tax & Compliance
• Supporting VAT returns and tax filings
• Assisting with audits and financial reporting
• Ensuring financial procedures align with company policies and legal
requirements
Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete Accounts/Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship. You will be enrolled in an AAT Level 2 apprenticeship programme, where you will receive study support and guidance throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications: Grade 4 or above in English Language and Grade 5 in Mathematics
Working week: Monday – Friday 0900 – 1700 but can be flexible
