Service & Commissioning Engineer
Location: Waterbeach, Cambridge
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 + Overtime & Discretionary Bonus
Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (Flexible hours, core time 9:30 am to 3:30 pm)
Are you an experienced Service & Commissioning Engineer looking to make an impact with a leading provider of bespoke special-purpose machines and automated equipment? We are seeking a skilled engineer to join our client's team in Waterbeach, Cambridge, providing both office-based and field support to ensure top-notch service for their machines in the UK and around the world. The role is ideally suited to an experienced Service and Commissioning Engineer, or similar, with a history of working with automation, product handling and or special purpose machinery. Other skills include PLC programming and fault finding, electrical wiring, mechanical fitting and the ability to work well with others. A willingness to travel nationally and internationally often at short notice is required.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, assemble, and test machines in the Waterbeach facility.
Conduct on-site installations, commissioning, and corrective/preventative maintenance.
Provide technical support and regular feedback to customers on their service requests.
Assist with equipment installations and provide on-site training.
Evaluate and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control issues.
Maintain and update equipment manuals, and document repair and maintenance actions.
Work closely with technical sales engineers to ensure customer satisfaction.
Candidate Requirements
HND/HNC/City & Guilds in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
Experience with industrial machinery (mechanical and electrical).
Skilled in electrical wiring and mechanical fitting; PLC programming and fault-finding experience is advantageous.
Familiarity with servo-hydraulic systems and NI LabView is a plus.
Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide training and maintain professional relationships.
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, often on short notice.
Full UK driving license required.
The role will require working in Waterbeach, Cottenham and on clients’ sites in the UK and worldwide.
