Band 6 Critical Care Sister / Charge Nurse
This role is offered on a part-time basis of 24 hours per week, encouraging candidates interested in part-time work to apply, with a salary provided on a pro-rata basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced, motivated nurse to develop leadership and management skills.
As a senior member of the Critical Care Unit team, you will be required to coordinate the safe delivery of care daily to critically ill patients.
Main duties of the job
The CCU Band 6 sister will be an excellent clinical critical care nurse with good leadership qualities and a commitment to continuing professional development reflecting individual needs, the needs of the team, and the needs of the organization.
The CCU Band 6 sister will act as a clinical expert practitioner providing specialist knowledge and advising nurses, medical staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team working within the critical area. As a 24-hour service provider, the post holder is expected to work autonomously, coordinating and managing a defined clinical area without direct supervision, ensuring the safe delivery of specialist treatment.
The CCU Band 6 sister will assist the Ward Manager in resource management, service deployment, and development for the clinical area.

Essential
1. First Level registration
2. Intensive Care Course or equivalent
3. Teaching and Assessing qualification / Mentors & Assessors course
4. Immediate Life Support
5. Paediatric Life Support
6. Management of the critically ill child course or equivalent experience
7. Leadership ability, organized, self-motivated, able to motivate others, innovative, and the ability to manage change
Desirable
1. Management Training
2. Relevant Diploma/Degree
3. Advanced life support
Experience
Essential
1. In-depth experience in a General Intensive Care unit.
2. Clinical expertise e.g., invasive monitoring and haemofiltration, management of critically ill child.
3. Experience of being the Nurse in Charge and management of a shift on a regular basis on CCU.
4. Knowledge and experience of managing resources i.e., people and materials.
5. Experience or sound knowledge of human resources e.g., sickness, appraisal.
6. Demonstrated ability to support colleagues.
Desirable
1. Completion of the unit Management Development Programme
2. Experience in writing protocols, guidelines, policies, clinical competencies
3. Proven leadership and management experience in critical care
