Job Title: Equine Wellbeing Coach Location: Medway Green school, Wouldham, Rochester Salary: £23,000 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:00 Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only UK applicants only. As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Equine Wellbeing Coach to join our close-knit team at Medway Green School located in Wouldham, Rochester. About the role As an Equine Wellbeing Coach you will support with the emotional well-being of young people who are accessing a bespoke education plan which includes off site provision, as well as students who are engaging with full time education in school. You will work closely with the Therapy and Wellbeing Team and SENCo, who will refer students to you to engage in 6-week programmes or longer, or one-off sessions in order to address their social, emotional and mental health needs through the use of horses. Students will attend the yard in small groups, or 1:1. Full training will be provided, including enrolment onto the Equimotional course. Lone working will be part of the role, as you will be based at the small stable yard which is approximately 10 minutes from school. You will always have a member of support staff from school with you when delivering interventions to the students. Your role will include communicating information around the young person, liaising with other school colleagues, parents and carers and external providers. As part of the role, you will be expected to write risk assessments, conduct pre-visit risk assessments and ensure relevant policies and procedures are followed. You will need to keep accurate and detailed notes on sessions, and feedback to SLT on the progress of students. Main Responsibilities To be actively involved in the support and engagement of students by: To support individual pupils with emotional wellbeing and regulation through the use of equine intervention To coach students about how to manage their emotions and feelings leading to better self-regulation and self-management through horses To attend training, and delivering the Equimotional programme to the students, 1:1 and in small groups Deliver learning to students regarding practical aspects of horses and stable management To report to relevant parties on the progress of student’s emotional wellbeing and attend therapy team meetings To write pre-visit risk assessments and risk assessments To work with the SENCO and Assistant Headteacher to ensure that any young person’s intervention programme and activities planned are engaging and appropriate To undertake any relevant training Qualifications Required GCSE To view the job description, please click here - About Us Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMHSEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools.
