We are recruiting for a Residential Care Worker for our home within Essex. Working on a rota basis, you will establish relationships that young people perceive to be positive, warm, and rewarding. You will provide advice, assistance, and support to enable young people to address past and present difficulties.
The working day can be very unpredictable; you could find yourself spending the entire morning organizing activities and the afternoon providing 1:1 support. No two days are the same. The right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable, and able to read situations to help our young people make positive choices.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Providing emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
2. Being ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimize their potential.
3. Providing support for young people in their education.
4. Keeping accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews, or any other meetings as directed by the line manager.
5. Empowering young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision-making about their lives and future.
6. Acting as an advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
7. Encouraging the young person to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities, and expand their personal social network.
8. Meeting the needs of the Children and Young People, organizing and facilitating social activities (out of school), maintaining the home (laundry, cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.).
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
1. You must be over 21 years old.
2. A full UK driving license is preferable.
3. No experience necessary, just a commitment & passion for working with young people.
