Black Country Transport Programme Manager Salary - £58,279 - £61,565 (Grade 9) Hours - 37 hours per week Contract type - Full time, permanent Rooted in collaboration, Black Country Transport (BCT) brings together officers from the four Black Country local authorities; Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, with a team of central officers to provide project management of cross-boundary transport schemes. By working collaboratively, we can assist the local authorities with developing projects that span more than one borough and encourage consistency of provision across the Black Country region. Black Country Transport is innovative in its approach to roads by ensuring they cater for all by providing for walking, cycling, cars, lorries, and public transport. The projects we develop also work with new technologies, such as optimised traffic signals that can alter their timings depending on traffic demand, and electric vehicle charge points. We are seeking two ambitious Programme Managers to lead on major highway and infrastructure projects within BCT. Role Responsibilities: To ensure that the corridor programme is developed and delivered to the appropriate time, cost and quality criteria and manage the budget for the programme Ensure that the risk portfolio attached to the corridor is appropriately managed and controlled in line with the risk appetite identified by the Black Country Director of Transport. Provide programme level reporting to the Black Country Director of Transport and relevant boards are kept informed of all issues and to provide advice in order for appropriate decisions to be made. The Day to Day Line Management and Performance Management of those staff assigned to this project, this includes providing leadership, direction and mentoring of the staff engaged on the delivery of projects within this portfolio. To develop a WebTAG major scheme business case for the corridor programme. Maintenance of project documentation and software in conjunction with the PMO. Role Requirements: A degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, Town Planning or other relevant discipline, or relevant equivalent experience. A post graduate qualification (e.g. MSc) in transport planning, civil engineering or other relevant discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body such as Institute Civil Engineers or Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation. Substantial knowledge of project management disciplines and frameworks. Detailed knowledge of planning/transportation legislation.
