About The Role
We are looking for a person to join our ambitious and friendly team. As part of the Environment Mitigation Delivery Team at Dorset Council you will be developing and delivering nutrient mitigation projects.
With a recent £4.6M government grant from the Local Nutrient Mitigation Fund to deliver nutrient mitigation across the Poole Harbour catchment, we are looking for someone who is solution-focused and a good communicator to work across a wide variety of teams and with different stakeholders.
Dorset Council currently has an existing approach to funding and delivering nitrogen mitigation, however this approach needs to be reviewed and updated to take account of Natural England's latest guidance. Dorset Council is moving to a market-based approach to the delivery of mitigation measures across Poole Harbour catchment and our other four catchments. This exciting new role will be to develop, deliver and manage a nutrient mitigation credit market in the Dorset Council area as well as deliver a range of nature-based and grey water mitigation projects. There is another senior nutrient mitigation in post, delivering a range of other nitrate mitigation work and a mitigation support officer who will provide the admin support for this post.
The role reports to a Nutrient Mitigation Steering Group and is line-managed by the Environment Mitigation Delivery Team leader.
Further Information
You will have experience working in this field or the relevant fields of mitigation delivery and credit markets. You will be solution-focused, enjoy resolving complex problems, and enjoy working across a wide variety of teams and with different stakeholders. Be good at working with data, have a good understanding of financial restrictions on Local Government and have experience in commercial markets around mitigation. Be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team, and be able to communicate clearly and problem solve. You will ideally have some experience in project management, land purchase, negotiation, and planning.
You will need to have a flexible approach to work, travelling to meetings and site visits, working in the office and at home, and working at evening and/or weekend meetings if required. It is necessary to have a full driving license and access to a vehicle.
You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
This post is a full-time (37 hours per week) fixed-term contract for initially three years.
