The post is for a band 5 diagnostic Radiographer working at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust with a base site of Leicester General Hospital. The post will have a rotational roster incorporating all 3 of the Leicester Hospitals.

UHL spans three hospital sites, employs around 14,500 staff and fully embraces role extension. Imaging has regularly supported career progression in Radiographic Reporting/Advanced Practice and the other roles such as Hysterosalpinography, Lithotripsy, Vascular Access and Ultrasonography.
We also have a team of Practice Development Radiographers in each of the main modalities to support the practice and career development of our Radiographic staff.

The Radiology Department has recently had a large investment in new equipment and now has 3 twin plate wireless general DR rooms, 1 DXA scanner, 2 DR mobile units and 4 mobile image intensifiers. In addition the department has 2 CT and 2 MRI scanners, 2 interventional radiology suites that provide support to the GI/GU and vascular services. The plain film work load includes GP appointments, outpatients, extensive elective Orthopaedic examinations, DXA scans and some trauma theatre, urology and pain management, outpatients and theatre cases. There are plans to develop the hospital into a GP and community hub with one of the community diagnostic hubs. Staff also work in the Radiology department and Emergency Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
As a successful applicant, you will be required to participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours roster which includes night duties, weekends and public holiday shifts and you will be expected to work cross site.

We operate a band 5 to band 6 development program to support our radiographers to develop the skills required for a band 6 role. Following successful completion of this program the candidate gains a band 6 role.

The post-holder will be expected to deliver a high quality, effective and efficient radiographic service to the highest professional standards as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will rotate through the main department to include Plain Film, Theatres and Mobile areas of the department. Depending on site or service needs, the rotation will include other Leicester Hospital sites.
