Research Fellow - Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
The University of Exeter
The closing date is 26 February 2025
Job summary
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Research Fellow in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy to participate in a programme of research to design an adapted rehabilitation intervention for people with Lewy body dementia. This Alzheimer's Society and National Institute of Health and Care Research Exeter Biomedical Research Centre funded post is available from 01/09/2025-31/08/2028 or pro rata part time. The successful applicant will also be expected to undertake a PhD; fees at UK rates will be covered. Contact Professor Louise Allan for further info on this.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours. The post will be based on our Exeter St Lukes campus.
Main duties of the job
The project will include a rapid realist review of literature on rehabilitation in dementia, identifying papers where LBD has been included and any evidence of what might work in this context, for whom and in what circumstances. A qualitative study with people with LBD and their carers will examine what the needs are and any factors for people with LBD not faced by people with other dementias. This evidence will be presented to stakeholders (professional and people with LBD and carers) to co-produce an adapted intervention. This intervention will be trialled in a group of 10 people with LBD with a view to refinement for subsequent clinical trials.
