Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?
Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces? We are proud to announce that DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 2024 and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 4th year running. As well as competitive pay rates, you will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare, pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, and an employee assistance programme!
About the role:
You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats, and many more optional extras for your comfort.
Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45-hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day typically starting at 7/8 am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.
The role provides job security within a growing global business. We operate a busy fleet, ensuring there’s always work available. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and we offer enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays and night-time hours (10 pm - 6 am). You’ll be joining a friendly team - our drivers often stay with us for many years because we treat them well!
Key Role Responsibilities
We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, allowing you to enjoy being out on the open road, while still being home at the end of every 9-hour shift.
You’ll ensure that Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages, and Yorks get to and from customers on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you; at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.
You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and completing a Defect Report if necessary.
You will ensure everything is ‘right first time’ for your customers, both internal and external. As a great communicator, you’ll work hard to keep customers happy, passing any queries you can’t answer to your Site Manager quickly.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Class 1 Driving licence
* Driver CPC qualification card
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe road use
* A ‘can do’ attitude
