Job Title : Cover Supervisor (Ad-hoc) Location : Coventry, West Midlands, UK Job Type : Ad-hoc, Temporary Start Date : Immediate Job Description: We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cover Supervisor to join a group of secondary schools in Coventry on an ad-hoc basis. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain on task, manage their behavior, and continue their learning effectively. Key Responsibilities: Supervise Pre-Planned Lessons : Lead classes across a range of subjects, ensuring that students follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. Classroom Management : Maintain a productive and positive classroom environment by managing student behavior effectively. Ensure students are on task, engaged, and following the teacher’s instructions. Provide Student Support : Offer support to students as required, assisting with tasks, answering questions, and helping them stay focused on their work. Monitor Student Progress : Keep track of student progress during the lesson and address any issues or difficulties that arise. Safeguarding and Welfare : Ensure the safety and well-being of students during lessons. Follow all safeguarding protocols and school policies to maintain a safe environment. Reporting and Feedback : Report any behavior or academic concerns to the appropriate teacher or leadership team, and provide feedback on student progress where necessary. Flexibility : Be available on short notice for ad-hoc cover shifts across various subjects and year groups, often at different schools within Coventry. Requirements: Experience working with secondary school-aged students (ages 11-16) in a supervisory or educational role. Strong classroom management skills : Ability to keep students focused, engaged, and behaving appropriately in the absence of the class teacher. Good communication skills : Able to communicate effectively with both students and staff. Proactive attitude : Flexible and willing to adapt to different subjects and age groups as needed. DBS Check : Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). Organizational skills : Ability to ensure that lessons are carried out smoothly and students stay on task. Desirable Skills: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar educational role is preferred.
