Top priority is their people - they want you to enhance your expertise and will contribute to your career growth.\n\nTheir Birmingham office is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their building structures team.\n\nYou'll be involved in a broad range of projects, from designing large, complex developments valued between £5 - £200 million, to carrying out in-depth assessments of existing structures. This role will provide you with the opportunity to enhance your expertise across various areas of structural engineering, and contribute meaningfully to the development of the built environment.\n\nAs part of our integrated design approach, you will take on a range of responsibilities, working closely with the senior management team.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nTake direction from senior management and report on project performance.\nManage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they meet the required quality, time, and budget standards.\nTrack and report on project financials and resource needs, supporting the senior team in managing team resources and business direction.\nLead or work as part of the design team, overseeing both outline and detailed design, producing technical deliverables.\nConduct structural analysis and design in line with Eurocode standards, ensuring solutions are efficient, sustainable, and practical.\nOversee the preparation of detailed design drawings.\nCheck calculations, drawings, reports, and other project documents, ensuring compliance with our QA procedures.\nMentor junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices, supporting their growth and development.\nPerform site surveys/inspections, producing technical reports with recommendations for clients.\nConduct existing building assessments in line with the Building Safety Act, including managing on-site investigations.\nVisit construction sites to address queries, monitor progress, and offer guidance to contractors.
\n\nAbout you:\n\nDegree in Structural Engineering (MEng, BSc, MSc).\nChartered or nearing Chartered status, and a Member/Graduate Member of IStructE or ICE.\nProven experience in designing structures using concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.\nKnowledge of Finite Element Design, particularly using SCIA Engineer.\nFamiliarity with 2D and 3D structural design tools, including TEKLA Structural Designer, TEDDS, and Masterseries.\nExperience with BIM and working in a 3D design environment.\nExperience with large-scale projects and an understanding of common building construction types.\nProven experience in client-facing roles, performing surveys, inspections, and offering site support.\nCollaborative, confident, and ambitious, with the ability to work independently.\nStrong commercial awareness and experience in managing projects.\nUnderstanding of sustainable design practices and the ability to implement eco-friendly solutions in structural design. \n\nAs you will be travelling to site and client meetings, it is essential you have a full UK driving license.\n\nIf you are looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to further your career in structural engineering, we would love to hear from you.
