Our client, a large Tier 1 company in the rail sector, is currently seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager on a long-term contract basis. The role, based in Manchester with flexible working options including some hybrid arrangements, is part of a significant infrastructure project and operates inside IR35. Key Responsibilities: Supporting leaders and operational teams in reducing the environmental impact of company operations Providing specialist environmental advice, knowledge, technical compliance and being the environmental focal point Supporting and enabling the maintenance of the ISO 14001 certification of integrated management systems Identifying environmental risks and opportunities, improving understanding of site activities' interaction with the environment, and determining effective operational control measures Undertaking environmental applications as required (authorised waste, consents to discharge/abstract) Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives Job Requirements: Good understanding of environmental management principles, environmental impact assessment, and life cycle assessment Experience in environmental permission application and supervision (Protected Species, authorised waste, water abstraction, and effluent discharge) Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and relevant environmental legislation Experience in environmental performance monitoring, analysis, evaluation, and making improvement recommendations Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Environment, Sustainability, or Engineering Practitioner Environmentalist (PIEMA) If you are an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager looking for a new opportunity to work with a dynamic team on a major infrastructure project, we would love to hear from you.
