Excell Supply are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a team in a residential childrens home. The role involves supporting the educational and personal development of children and young people with diverse needs, working closely with the residential and education teams to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment. Key Responsibilities: Educational Support: Assist with the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging and tailored learning activities to support each childs educational progress. Work one-to-one or with small groups of children to provide additional academic support. Adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual needs and abilities. Monitor and record students progress, providing feedback to teachers and residential care staff. Personal Development: Support children and young people in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation. Encourage positive behaviour and promote self-confidence and independence. Assist with implementing care plans and educational targets outlined in individual education plans (IEPs) or EHCPs. Collaborative Working: Work closely with the residential care team, teachers, and external professionals to ensure consistency in care and education. Attend team meetings, training sessions, and planning discussions to contribute to the holistic development of the children. Maintain clear and accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress. Safeguarding and Well-Being: Promote the safety and well-being of all children, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. Support children during challenging situations with empathy and appropriate interventions. Assist with personal care needs where required, respecting the dignity and privacy of each child. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or a related field (or willingness to work towards one). Experience working with children or young people in an educational, residential, or care setting. Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN) and/or experience supporting children with additional needs is highly desirable. Skills and Attributes: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of a residential environment. Desirable: Training in safeguarding, de-escalation strategies, or first aid. Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Children Act and SEND Code of Practice.
