This is a community post, suitable for an Old Age Psychiatry colleague who will assume responsibility for diagnosis and treatment of patients under the Bassetlaw CMHT.
We need a Speciality Grade doctor who would offer outstanding clinical leadership and clinical care.
This is a 10 PA post based in Bassetlaw, CMHT. The Specialty Doctor will provide clinical and medical leadership to the MDT and will lead the assessment and treatment of patients under their care for the Bassetlaw catchment area. Bassetlaw is in the northern part of Nottinghamshire serving a population of approximately 116,500.
Nottinghamshire Healthcare provides integrated healthcare services, including mental health, intellectual disability, and physical health services. Over 9000 dedicated staff provide these services in a variety of settings, ranging from the community through to acute wards, as well as secure settings.

Responsibilities:
1. Provision of a comprehensive old age psychiatry service.
2. Clinical responsibility for the patients in the post holder’s charge, including the diagnosis and treatment of patients within the sector.
3. Liaise with other services, such as Primary Care, Social Services, RRLP, IHTT, DOS, and Domiciliary and Voluntary sectors to facilitate patient care.
4. Provide medical leadership for the multi-disciplinary team leadership for Bassetlaw CMHT.
5. Provision of medical/psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment.
6. Completion of administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilities.
7. Maintain good clinical records using Trust’s electronic record system.
8. Maintain a revalidation portfolio and participate in annual appraisal.
9. Undertake a job plan review with the Clinical Directors annually.
10. Maintain professional registration with the GMC and approval as a Section 12(2) approved doctor.
11. Compliance with Trusts agreed policies and procedures.
12. Clinical supervision of resident medical staff.
13. Work jointly with care-coordinators to provide medical assessments and reviews for patients under the CMHT both in community and hospital settings as well as facilitating care programme reviews (CPA’s).
14. Familiarity with important relevant legislation affecting the care of older people with mental illness.
