As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable SHEQ Officer to support the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of our Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, and Security practices.
Role
We are looking for an individual who demonstrates commitment to their values and business goals, and who is flexible, innovative, and team-focused. This is a hands-on, multi-faceted position requiring a proactive and organized individual with a strong understanding of SHEQ principles. You will support the SHEQ Manager in ensuring our high standards in Health and Safety, environmental impact, and quality management are met and continuously improved, maintaining certification and compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Provide support to the SHEQ Manager.
2. Conduct regular safety audits, workplace inspections, and risk assessments across all departments.
3. Manage and maintain the company's SHEQ controls and policies in accordance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
4. Monitor and report on SHEQ performance metrics and contribute to departmental improvement plans.
5. Deliver safety inductions and training to promote a strong safety culture.
6. Review and draft company risk assessments, procedures, policies, and processes.
7. Provide updates to senior managers regarding SHEQ issues.
8. Identify trends related to business behaviors and practices.
9. Ensure compliance with all relevant SHEQ legislation, company policies, and procedures.
10. Review and assess ISO audit reports and oversee corrective actions with the SHEQ Manager.
11. Assist in customer complaint investigations and corrective actions.
Required Experience
1. Minimum of 2 years experience in a SHEQ role or similar capacity.
2. Strong working knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation and best practices.
3. NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); Fire Safety or Environmental qualification (desirable).
4. Experience with ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards.
5. Experience conducting internal and external audits.
6. Experience conducting risk assessments.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise professionally at all levels.
8. Accurate and professional written skills.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and a willingness to adopt modern technologies.
