The successful candidate will join the Red Team, looking after patients with acute leukaemia, bone marrow failure and all patients undergoing cellular therapy (autologous stem cell transplant, allogeneic stem cell transplant and CAR-T). This is a new post to support expansion of the cellular therapies programme of work. In-patient work is covered by the Consultant Haematologist of the Week (CHOW) for a week on a rotational basis (currently 1 in 10), as well as the buddy to provide support to colleagues from other sub-specialties looking after patients with acute leukaemia and myeloid disorders (1 in 4). There is a separate rota for looking after inpatients undergoing cellular therapy (1 in 4).Outpatient clinics are disease specific and would include dedicated clinics for early post-transplant/ cellular therapy patients on Monday morning and dedicated transplant clinics (new patients and follow ups). There is a dedicated cellular therapy late effects clinic run by the transplant CNS and supported by the cellular therapy Consultants. The successful candidate would be expected to support the Ambulatory and Virtual Ward CNS team. There is scope to develop the late effects programme further and flexibility to develop a subspecialist interest within the cellular therapy programme. Depending on the interests and skills of the appointee, other roles to support the department might include diagnostic laboratory work and apheresis. Training Appropriate training and support, tailored to the successful applicants requirements, will be provided Teaching UHL is a teaching hospital and as such there will be an expectation that the candidate will contribute to teaching medical students when present in clinic. There may be scope for teaching and training other post-graduate colleagues, which can be discussed. Conditions of Service Salary: This is a 10PA role and the starting salary of the appointment will be the appropriate threshold on the Consultant Pay Scale (2003 contract), or appropriate SAS pay scale (2021 contract), depending on the background of successful candidate. Duration of employment: This post is intended to be a long term or permanent appointment; duration to be agreed with the successful candidate. Notice Period: The employment is subject to three months notice on either side, subject to the provisions of schedule 19 of the Terms and Conditions of Service for Consultants (England) 2003, or SAS 2021, contract as applicable. Annual leave and Study leave entitlements will be pro rata.
