Social Worker
Location: Homebased
Permanent - Full Time / Part Time – generally Monday to Friday, 9-5

About your role:
Join British Gas Energy as a Social Worker in a new, pivotal role.
We’re establishing a Vulnerable Customer Centre of Excellence, supporting at-risk individuals across the UK. Working with the UK’s largest gas supplier, you’ll help customers when they need us most, making a real difference daily.
You’ll develop frameworks and strategies to identify and assist vulnerable customers, guiding frontline teams to provide tailored support, compassion, and resources.
Your key duties include:
1. Help identify vulnerable customers and develop appropriate outcomes.
2. Support solvers by helping customers access financial aid, energy efficiency advice, and other resources.
3. Assist in crisis situations, coordinating emergency support for health, wellbeing, or disconnection issues.
4. Educate and train solvers and customers about their rights and support programs.
5. Collaborate industry-wide to develop accessible support programs.
6. Address mental health issues linked to financial stress, connecting customers with mental health services.
What we’re looking for:
We seek an experienced, compassionate Social Worker with a solutions-focused approach and a genuine desire to make a difference. You should have a proven track record in social work, demonstrating empathy, clarity, and calmness in communication, and confidence in handling sensitive conversations.
Digital confidence is essential to navigate internal systems securely and accurately. Experience in energy or banking sectors is advantageous but not required.
