Health Care Assistant, Operating Department Band 2
There is exciting opportunity for an experienced Health care worker to join in Operating Theatres Band 2 at West Middlesex Hospital. This is an ideal next step for someone considering career development in Health care settings.
You will be working with Multidisciplinary team. Possible experience in health care settings is preferable.

· Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN)/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
· The post holder is expected to carry out assigned duties, which maintain hygiene, orderliness and safety of the ward/department environment.
· Fulfil any necessary clerical duties under the support and supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Operating Department Practitioner.
· To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and providecover for any area specified within your level of competency.

· Carry out tasks in delivering and supporting direct patient care as directed by a registered nurse/operating department practitioner.
· Assist in the restocking of supplies and maintenance of equipment as directed by a registered nurse/ODP.
· Adhere to departmental and Directorate procedures for the use of supplies and equipment in order to promote effective and efficient use of resources.
· Keep clinical areas clean and tidy and maintain a safe, pleasant environment.
· Ensure that nursing/theatre documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).
· Under supervision participate in conducting nursing/anaesthetic audit to achieve the agreed standards.
· Under the supervision of the Theatre/Anaesthetic Co-ordinator contribute and participate in the process of setting goals and benchmarking standards of care.
· In conjunction with the staff team contribute to developing and maintaining a departmental philosophy and model of care.
· Demonstrate a holistic approach to patient care, underpinned by knowledge of evidence-based practice
· To demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
· To be aware of the Trust’s framework of clinical governance within the department, seeking advice or guidance where necessary.
· Identify and report clinical risks so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with the Trust risk management policy.
· To provide a suitable and safe environment for the physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing for staff, patients/clients and their relatives/carers, seeking guidance or advice where necessary.
· Record and report all incidents/complaints involving staff, patients and visitors in accordance with West Middlesex University Hospital policies and assist in any investigations as required under the support and supervision of a registered nurse/operating department practitioner.
· To actively promote a healthy lifestyle for patients and staff appreciating national strategy requirements.
