An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new clinical service manager post within the psychosexual service. This post allows the post holder to hone and develop their management skills while supporting the research and clinical work within the team.
The role would suit a motivated and committed Psychologist/psychotherapist/Family therapist or Art Therapist with skills and experience working with individuals and
couples presenting with complex sexual problems.
The successful candidate would have a proven record of delivering psychological therapy and be competent in at least one therapeutic modality e.g.
CBT and knowledge of psychosexual therapy, sexual dysfunction and issues around gender identity is required. To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of highly specialist psychological interventions for clients of the Psychosexual Service and willprovide clinical leadership to more junior psychological practitioners and other professionals, as appropriate while managing the teams resources.
Psychosexual Service is an outpatient clinical service, part of the National Service Division, for adults aged 18 and over with no upper age limit. It
specialises in treating people with complex and persistent sexual problems. The service offers assessment and treatment for individuals and
couples who are experiencing difficulties with their sexual functioning, where the primary cause is psychological, or where the psychosexual
problem has developed as a result of physical pathology.
We have expertise in treating people with a range of sexual dysfunctions and gender-related difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
KR 1 Clinical and Client Care
· To develop, co-ordinate and ensure the systematic provision of highly specialist psychological interventions for clients of the Psychosexual Clinic
· To provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients of the clinic according to discipline including evidence based treatments for psychosexual dysfunction and sexual trauma.
· To provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions with carers or families of referred clients when required.
KR 2 Responsibilities for team or service clinical functioning
· To co-ordinate (and chair) meetings forthe Psychosexual Clinic, to ensure effective functioning of the team
· To take a lead in ensuring a psychologically and psychotherapeutically informed framework for the Psychosexual Clinic(part of a service).
· To lead in developing the team or service’s delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.
KR 3 Policy and service development
· To implement policies and procedures in own area of work.
· To identify any aspects of the psychosexual service which could be improved and propose changes to practices or procedures that affect psychosexual service and may also affect other services.
· To initiate and implement service development projects, as agreed with clinical/professional lead.
KR 4 Care or management of resources
· To take care of, and use carefully, the Trust’s equipment and physical resources.
· To ensure that the post-holder has sufficient resources by estimating future needs and requesting or ordering supplies as needed.
· To ensure the cleanliness and safe functioning and use of equipment that will be used by clients or other persons.
KR 5 Management and supervision
· To provide clinical leadership to more junior psychological practitioners and other professionals, as appropriate.
· To be responsible for the allocation and/or clinical supervision of the work of more junior psychological practitioners.
· To supervise trainees within own area of specialism having completed the relevant training.
· To undertake the appraisal of more junior psychological therapists
· To lead on the recruitment of more junior psychological practitioners
KR 6 Teaching and Training
· To undertake occasional teaching and training of pre and post-qualificationpsychological practitionersand specialised training to other professions as appropriate(if formal teaching is a major regular component of the job, reword this item accordingly)
· To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within the service by maintaining an active awareness of current developments in psychology and by implementing knowledge gained in practice.
KR 7 Record-keeping and Information Governance
· To ensure that all information generated by own work is recorded as required by Trust policies and local procedures.
· To ensure the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry, in those parts of the service for which the post-holder has leadership responsibility.
KR 8 Research and development
· To initiate, undertake, support and supervise regular complex service evaluation and audits
· To initiate/carry out appropriate research
· To initiate and implement the development of outcome measurement and assessment and assist other staff in the implementation of same.
KR 9 Maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development
· To receive regular clinical and professional supervision from a more seniorpsychological practitionersaccording to professional and Trust guidelines.
· To maintain own Continuing Professional Development in line with registration body and Trust Personal Development Plan requirements and the professional Standards for Continuing Professional Development.
KR10 General
· To travel to meetings as appropriate and across the Trust when required
· To be aware of risk relating to aggressive and challenging behaviour amongst the client group, and follow trust policies relating to its management.
