Job Role:
As the Head of Paid Search, you will lead and shape the direction of Paramount Digital’s PPC department, driving innovation, growth, and outstanding client results. Reporting directly to the Paid Media Director, you will oversee a team of 9 PPC professionals (3 PPC Managers and 6 Executives) while working closely with senior leadership to align the department’s strategy with overall business objectives.
This is a senior role within the agency, responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the PPC department, including service development, team leadership, and overseeing some of the agency’s biggest client accounts. The Head of Paid Search will take full ownership of campaign strategy, team management, and client success, ensuring exceptional results across all search engine based paid media channels. You will play a pivotal role in driving commercial success, ensuring our PPC offering continuously evolves and contributes to the agency’s long-term growth.
Due to the nature of this position, you will be required to be in the office full-time, as your leadership is crucial in fostering team collaboration and helping the department expand.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Performance
1. Develop and oversee the overall paid search strategy, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
2. Lead high-level campaign strategy across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and other paid platforms.
3. Identify growth opportunities and continuously refine paid media approaches to drive ROI and revenue growth.
4. Ensure effective budget allocation and bid management, optimising performance for lead generation and eCommerce clients.
5. Keep up to date with the latest PPC trends and technologies, implementing best practices across campaigns.
Team Management & Development
1. Manage a team of PPC managers and executives, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
2. Set clear goals and develop training programmes to upskill the team.
3. Conduct performance reviews, approve annual leave, and manage staffing requirements for Paid Media Managers.
4. Encourage collaboration between PPC, SEO, content, and UX teams to ensure a fully integrated approach including cross departmental training.
Client & Stakeholder Management
1. Take a proactive role in client strategy meetings, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
2. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the key point of contact for high-value accounts.
3. Oversee client reporting and insights, ensuring clear and actionable recommendations.
4. Educate clients on the value of PPC and its impact on broader digital marketing objectives.
Data, Reporting & Tracking
1. Oversee campaign tracking and data accuracy, ensuring insights are based on solid analytics.
2. Provide strategic reporting to senior stakeholders, highlighting performance trends and growth opportunities.
3. Implement automation, scripts, and AI-driven strategies to streamline processes and improve results.
Initial Objectives
1. Establish strong working relationships with the PPC team and wider departments.
2. Conduct a full audit of existing PPC strategies, identifying areas for immediate improvement.
3. Review all existing PPC infrastructure and make suggestions as to how the team should be structured for efficiency improvements.
4. Ensure smooth client onboarding for any new paid search accounts.
5. Develop a roadmap for team growth and development, aligning with Paramount Digital’s long-term vision following a review process with all Paid Media staff.
Ongoing Objectives
1. Maintain a high standard of performance across all paid search accounts, delivering measurable improvements in conversions, ROI, and revenue.
2. Identify and implement new ad formats, audience targeting strategies, and automation tools.
3. Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the PPC team.
4. Drive cross-channel collaboration, ensuring PPC efforts complement SEO, content marketing, and CRO strategies.
Who We’re Looking For:

1. Experience: 6+ years in paid search marketing with a proven track record of delivering outstanding ROI.
2. Expertise: Strong technical PPC knowledge with a proven track record of managing large-scale PPC campaigns and other digital campaigns with significant budgets.
3. Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams, mentor staff, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
4. Strategic Thinking: Capable of developing cutting-edge PPC strategies that engage and challenge clients.
5. Communication Skills: Able to simplify complex information and present technical insights confidently to senior stakeholders and clients.
6. Client & Commercial Focus: Experience managing high-value client accounts with a strong commercial awareness and a results-driven mindset.
7. Self-Management: Highly organised with exceptional time management, scheduling, and prioritisation skills.
8. Innovation: Passion for staying ahead of PPC trends and implementing forward thinking strategies.
Tools & Technology Proficiency:
You should have hands on experience with:
1. Google Ads & Microsoft Ads
2. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
3. Google Ads Editor
4. Keyword research tools (e.g., KW Finder, SEMrush, Ahrefs)
5. MQL to SQL tracking and sales funnel optimisation
