Role Overview
The role of Arts Programme Assistant is to support the work of the Arts & Culture Programme across University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
The Arts and Culture Programme at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust exists to improve the look and feel of hospital spaces, to partner with civic, cultural and academic organisations, and to provide creative well-being activities for staff and patients.
The Arts and Culture programme works across ten hospital sites with over 13,000 staff in Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. The team comprises five full and part-time posts, supplemented by student interns and freelance specialists, who develop projects in partnership with other hospital arts teams, as well as civic, cultural and academic organisations.
Main Duties of the Job
The Arts Programme Assistant is a contact for staff, patients, and visitors interested in or engaging with the Arts & Culture Programme. The role is therefore responsible for setting high standards of communication with a variety of groups by enacting the Trust’s values at all times.
The post-holder will be literate, numerate, and digitally competent. The postholder will deliver communications both in writing and in digital media formats such as images, audio, and video and will also process numerical data for evaluation and budgeting.
The postholder will be required to participate in practical and technical tasks, such as for event and installation activities, including out of hours, covering for sickness absence and annual leave of colleagues.
The post holder will have an interest in arts and culture and understand the benefit of arts and culture in a healthcare setting.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
* Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience
* Qualifications in visual art, graphic design, or digital media
Knowledge and Experience
* Clerical / administrative experience, including filing and/or reception
* Experience of dealing with enquiries, both on the telephone and in person
* Experience of working in an NHS Arts Programme team or in an Arts, Culture, Heritage or Media organisation
Skills and Abilities
* Effective organisational skills
* Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
* Good digital media skills, including recording and editing packages
* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
* Ability to work on your own, using your own initiative
* Confidence to represent the team in conversations with colleagues and partners
* Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
