An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on Horsley ITU at The Walton Centre, "An Outstanding Trust" (CQC).
We are looking to recruit staff with the desire to use their skills and knowledge to develop within the role and continue to provide excellent care to all our patients and support and nurture junior staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to deputise, when necessary, in the absence of the Band 7 coordinator and work as an expert practitioner responsible for the delivery of patient focused programmes of care which address the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of critically ill patients and their families. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to demonstrate enhanced communication and interpersonal skills, providing direction and professional inspirational leadership to all members of the multi-professional team within the clinical area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* 1st level Registered Nurse (Adult).
* Diploma in Nursing.
* Degree or Undergraduate Degree Programme in progress.
* Post registration award in Critical Care Nursing.
* Mentorship or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
* Sign off mentor status.
* Completion of the "National Competency Framework for Adult Critical Care Nurses" Step 3 competencies.
* Evidence of continuing professional development/education.
* Post registration award in Neuroscience Nursing.
* Clinical Examination or Clinical Assessment/Diagnostics qualification (Level 6 or level 7).
* Evidence of leadership/management development.
* ILS or ALS qualification.
Experience & Knowledge
* Evidence of active involvement in developing new ways of working.
* Up to date knowledge of current local and national issues in healthcare.
* Previous experience as a Band 5 nurse in Critical Care.
* Experience of mentoring/assessing/ coaching others.
* Evidence of participation in service development projects/change initiatives related to Critical Care.
* Knowledge of change management.
* Experienced in staff management, able to persuade and influence and handle conflict.
* Audit and/or research experience.
* Experience/knowledge of change management.
* Evidence of providing staff with feedback on their individual performance/ participation in the PDR process.
* Evidence of experience as a Critical Care link nurse.
