Torus is seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Surveyor to join our Compliance Team, playing a vital role in ensuring our residential property portfolio meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. As a Senior Electrical Safety Surveyor, you’ll support the Senior Business Lead in planning, auditing, and delivering our electrical servicing and maintenance programmes. Acting as a deputy when needed, you’ll lead by example, mentoring the surveyor team and driving improvements in quality processes and business intelligence. This role is essential to maintaining Torus’ compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate standards. You’ll work collaboratively to ensure our electrical systems meet operational standards, provide expert advice on installations, and liaise with Enforcing Authorities when required. Your background in social housing property maintenance and knowledge of ISO frameworks will help you make a significant impact on the safety and satisfaction of our residents. Responsibilities: Proactively work with the Compliance Team to provide an efficient and coordinated workflow to deliver full assurance of compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation that ensure the protection of the company’s services and reputation through the completion of quality audits. Liaise with internal and external contractors on site ensuring the service provides value for money, meets quality and statutory requirements, and achieves operational efficiencies. Implement a reliable, effective quality assurance system for all work streams by combining fully intrusive, work in progress and visual risk assessment inspections to help identify any trends or weaknesses and to provide findings/data for inclusion in monthly reporting. Monitor contractors / suppliers and ensure their standard of work is acceptable and in compliance with recognised safety practices and agreed specifications. Support the manager and ensure that financial payments are reviewed for accuracy and validity prior to processing. Be responsible for providing advice regarding the design of mechanical and electrical installations relating to both existing properties and new build properties. Provide technical support on-site monitoring standards and performance of contractors to ensure a high standard of quality and safety. Keep up to date with training, developments, and changes in legislation. Assist with organising internal and external audits and help embed any subsequent action plans including completing and maintaining property inspection records utilising IT systems where appropriate. Contribute to the delivery of the operational plan and the development of an outstanding service that makes a positive contribution to the Torus vision in a manner that reflects the Torus values. Skills & Experience: Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation (18th Edition) & maintenance. IOSH Working Safely qualification or willing to work towards Evidence of and commitment to continual professional and personal development. Must hold full current driving license. Ability to travel to various locations using own transport with business insurance. A proven track record of auditing compliance within the social sector A sound background in property maintenance and experience of working within ISO frameworks. Able to demonstrate a knowledge of surveying gained through extensive knowledge and relevant experience. Ability to complete various survey types of stock condition, fire risk assessments, HHSRS and asbestos validation surveys. Experience in the on-site management of investment and refurbishment schemes from inception to completion A sound knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to property maintenance Evidence of co-ordinating and demonstrating the importance of value for money in everyday operations Demonstrates a commitment to H&S to ensure safe operations and environment for staff and customers.
