Residential Children's Services Deputy Manager

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £35,213.36 per annum (includes sleep in shifts)
Specific Hours: 38 hours per week
Responsible for: Team Leaders, Residential Support Workers

We are currently seeking a Deputy Manager to join our home in Bristol.
Purpose of the job:
1. To ensure that the needs of young people in Headway's care are met and to provide a positive and safe living experience for these young people.
2. To manage and lead the Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers in order to provide a high quality of childcare.
3. To work with and support the Children's Home Manager to ensure that the residential home runs smoothly and effectively at all times and that young people achieve positive outcomes.
Main Duties:
1. To work on shift and in conjunction with the Home Manager to ensure that the Home runs efficiently and effectively to a high standard and young people are safeguarded at all times.
2. To manage a staff team and to deputise for the Home Manager in his/her absence delivering supervision in accordance with company policy.
3. To comply with the Company's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures and report all causes of concern to the nominated Designated Safeguarding Officer.
4. To comply with and maintain knowledge of the Home's Statement of Purpose, Policy and Procedures, and promote best practice.
5. To promote effective multi-agency working and positive relationships with all staff and significant others.
6. To comply with and enforce company guidelines on Codes of Conduct and to set an acceptable role model standard within the home.
Special Conditions:
The holder of this position will be required to book annual leave at different times to the Home Manager.
About you:
1. Good overall standard of education.
2. Working towards or hold Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
3. Up to date knowledge of Child Care legislation, children's home regulations and quality standards.
4. Hold a QCF Level 3 qualification or be willing to work towards one.
5. Commitment to commence relevant level 5 Diploma within 6 months of appointment.
6. A minimum of 2 years' previous experience of working directly with young people with challenging behaviour.
7. Experience of working with outside agencies, other professionals, parents and families.
8. Excellent report writing and numeracy skills.
9. Well organised with excellent administration and IT skills.
10. Able to relate to young people with empathy and committed to a high standard of child care.
11. Strong motivational, management and leadership potential.
The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position. Must hold a full, clean UK Driving Licence (manual).
