Contractor Direct Surface Prep - North
To achieve sales and profitability budgets for the assigned territory, in accordance with the company’s business development plan.
1. Manage and develop the existing Contractor Direct Surface Prep end-user customer account base to produce additional growth in line with Husqvarna Constructions sales strategy.
2. Identify new sales opportunities and achieve profitable sales through these new accounts.
3. Work closely with the internal customer services team on maximising existing territory business and in pro-actively developing new business. This will be supported by a Territory Business plan.
4. Participate constructively and effectively as a member of the Sales team, always identifying and communicating business development territory requirements.
Responsibilities and Key tasks:
The successful candidate will manage their territory in the Northern Area by visiting, co-ordinating and developing sales/business to their customer base. Working closely with the customer decision maker and/or the influencer of the decision-making process. The Head of Sales will work closely with the individual to help and support their activities in the field, specifying budgets, targets, and action prioritisation.
The BDM will regularly communicate market information aimed at territory business development, which will also encompass intelligence from the field i.e. product performance, market prices, competitor activity, wins, and losses etc. The individual will participate in regular sales meetings, during which they will be expected to communicate territory objectives that meet Husqvarna Construction sales growth strategy.
Results
1. Define and implement a cost-effective strategy for generating sales within the defined territory customer base.
2. Key area – New Business Growth.
3. Achieve the territory sales in line with agreed budgets.
4. Utilise CRM to log all activities and ensure efficient housekeeping of data to assist marketing.
5. Fully understand and implement the Husqvarna Construction Sales Strategy, including brand and market pricing.
6. Develop strong relationships with the customer base while encouraging pro-active trading which addresses their needs/requirements by effectively collaborating with the customers' salespeople, operatives, and influencers.
Activities
1. The BDM will spend at least 80% of their time in the field visiting New and existing customers, with a major emphasis on developing customer accounts where excellent potential exists and generating New Business.
2. Work closely with the internal customer services team on maximising territory business. This will be supported by a Territory Business plan.
3. Develop effective territory management through sensible journey, time, and geographical customer visit patterns and objectives.
4. Follow up all sales leads passed from the office/colleagues promptly and efficiently and log in CRM progress.
5. Establish customer records/data base and ensure they are kept up to date and in good condition in CRM.
6. Continually review competitor activities; identify potential threats, opportunities, and action plan.
7. Prepare a target plan to identify and exploit short, medium, and long-term potentials to meet objectives.
8. Ensure that all reports/correspondence are completed and returned on time to the highest level.
9. Advise of any changes, issues, and competitor activity affecting the sales, margins, and overall business relationship with customers.
10. Report any perceived weaknesses in personal, product, or operational knowledge to the line manager so appropriate training and support can be arranged.
Additional skills/qualifications required:
The BDM manages the sales territory professionally to the Company’s benefit and customer’s satisfaction through resilience, tenacity, enthusiasm/motivation, discipline, reliability, honesty, integrity, smart appearance, common sense, and loyalty.
Criteria
Proven experience of successfully managing business at a territory sales level, particularly with end-users is required, together with the ability to competently use and demonstrate products to customers. An effective communicator, with the ability to build close relationships at all levels is also a must.
