About the role The Economic Attraction Lead will contribute to the delivery of services that are aligned to Council’s Community Strategic plan, Delivery Plan and Operational Plan. Specifically key activities for this role are outlined in Council’s Economic Development Strategy 2023-2031 (EDS). The Economic Attraction lead will develop, deliver, and report on projects that contribute to the growth and strength of the local economy. The role is responsible for delivering projects and initiatives that create jobs and attract investment into the city. The role will provide strategic economic advice about the city to internal and external stakeholders and be responsible for influencing and maximising regional economic opportunities for the community. Essential criteria A tertiary qualification in Economic Development or related area. Demonstrated experience in economic development, research, urban or regional development. Strong strategic, analytical and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex external and cross-organisational projects to deliver community outcomes. Experience researching and interpreting economic and social data for a variety of audiences. Demonstrated experience and demonstrable achievement in implementing economic, social and regional development projects and initiatives. Experience in providing high-level advice to achieve strategic outcomes. Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with demonstrated experience in public speaking, and stakeholder engagement. Current Class C Driver Licence. Desirable criteria Experience in local government, the public sector or a large, diverse organisation. Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $112,849.00 - $130,626.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
