We are seeking a seasoned Quant or fundamental Oil Trader to join our team in London reporting to the head of Oil Trading. You will have a proven track record of developing trading strategies in the oil market as well as deep understanding of the oil paper flow and the participants in the market.
Responsibilities
1. Strategy Development: Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability.
2. Position Management: Monitor, manage, and optimize trading positions, ensuring alignment with risk management protocols.
3. Risk Management: Build and maintain proprietary risk metrics for sizeable positions; dynamically handle positions in an evolving market.
4. Market Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of market trends, geopolitical events, and economic data to inform trading decisions.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to resolve trading book issues promptly and effectively.
6. Communication: Share market intelligence and insights with the trading desk, fostering an open and informative dialogue.
7. Execution: Demonstrate agility and precision in executing trades, understanding the urgency and impact on the market.
Minimum Requirements
1. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in oil trading, with a strong focus on quantitative and fundamental analysis.
2. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using advanced analytical tools and software for market analysis and strategy development.
3. Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of oil paper flow, derivatives, and physical trading mechanisms.
4. Risk Management: Expertise in constructing and managing risk metrics, including Value at Risk (VaR) and scenario analysis.
5. Market Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of global oil markets, including key players, regulatory environments, and trading platforms.
6. Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex market dynamics and strategies to diverse stakeholders.
7. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
