Salary: SO2, £38,754 - £40,893 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role
To develop and manage the Forces annual insurance programme including purchase and renewal, liaising with the Force Solicitor, Deputy Force Solicitor and Head of Risk and Resilience.
Co-ordinate and maintain oversight of the reporting, investigation and management of the Forces insurance claims ensuring compliance with insurance terms and conditions.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to;
1. To manage the administration of the Force insurance/risk finance programme, including effecting necessary changes, providing advice and guidance to Force personnel on insurance matters and promoting awareness within the Force, to ensure that exposure to claims is minimised.
2. To manage the purchase of external insurance cover and related services with regard to EC Directives, Police Authority Standing Orders on Contracts and the Force Procurement Policy, in order to ensure that the scope of cover meets organisational requirements.
3. To achieve best value in insurance provision by arranging specifications, negotiating terms, conditions and premiums and assessing the suitability of policies.
4. To manage the claims handling processes, from notification to settlement, including investigating claims and determining liability, in order to comply with legislation, Force policy and insurance conditions, and to enable recovery of expenditure where possible.
5. To manage and analyse any internal fund provision, producing statistical and financial reports as required, ensuring that actual and potential liabilities are identified.
6. To maintain effective dialogue with colleagues in the Legal Team, Management of Risk team, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner other Force personnel, brokers, insurance companies and other appropriate agencies to ensure that the Force receives an efficient and cost-effective service.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 4 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
DipCII or ACII OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
Significant insurance experience gained ideally within a Claims, Underwriting, Broking or In-House Insurance Role.
Comprehensive knowledge of insurance claims and administration.
Knowledge and understanding of corporate insurances i.e Property, Public and Employers Liability, Fleet etc
Sound knowledge of insurance law.
Experience of managing good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Possess initiative, excellent organisational and communication skills, written and verbal with the ability to work independently without close supervision.
