Mechanical Inspector
Location: near Camberley, Surrey
Salary: Basic £36,000 to £45,000 plus benefits (£17.50-19.50 per hour, maybe negotiable)
Our client is a well-established company located near Camberley, Surrey and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector for their day shift. A key function of the role will be to carry out 1st off CMM inspection activities and also final inspection of predominantly aerospace machined components. Producing final CMM Reports in readiness for First Article Inspection is another key aspect of this challenging and exciting role. The basic salary is £36,000 to £45,000 plus benefits (£17.50-19.50 per hour, maybe negotiable) plus excellent benefits including: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays, plenty of overtime offered paid at time and a half, good pension. Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 07.30 – 16.30 (30 mins break) and Friday 07.30 – 12.30 (no break).
Mechanical Inspector Requirements:
1. You will be a high calibre performance driven Aerospace Inspector with experience in the sub-contract machining market, particularly in the aerospace sector.
2. You will have knowledge of BS EN 9100 Rev D and ISO 9000.
3. As well as those general standards, you will have good knowledge of individual aerospace company requirements.
4. You will be expected to ensure that the Company’s procedures and documentation are adhered to in order to meet the customers’ requirements.
5. You may at times be required to complete First Article Inspection Reports using Visual FAIR Software, so an understanding of this software package and AS9102 would be advantageous.
6. Your goals will be to ensure that the Company is complying with all the relevant standards that govern its activities and ensuring that customer requirements are achieved.
Mechanical Inspector Previous Experience:
1. 5 years’ experience in a similar role is desirable. Educated to HNC or experience in lieu.
2. CMM Programming/running using PC-DMIS Software is advantageous.
3. Extensive knowledge of conventional metrology methods including the use of Micrometres, Vernier Callipers, plug gauges etc. is also a critical requirement for this role.
4. Extensive knowledge of sub-contract machining.
5. Knowledge of aerospace machining quality standards and treatment processes.
6. Able to work to a high degree of complexity and accuracy.
7. Ability to prioritise.
8. Able to work under pressure.
9. Ability to communicate at all levels.
10. Ability to compile FAIRs.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of ERP or MRP production control systems.
2. Experience in the effective use of Microsoft Office tools.
