Role and Scope of Position:
The Senior Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. We offer a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the best of both worlds, working both in the office and the field on a variety of interesting projects. Areas of expertise include Underground Distribution design, Construction Standard, Work Methods, Specifications, Equipment Failure analysis, Emergent work and other issues which affect the operation of the underground distribution system.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.
Eversource Energy is looking for a Senior Engineer, Standards located in Springfield, MA or Manchester, NH. This individual will be involved in the development of Underground Construction Standards, Work Method development, evaluation and specification of material and equipment used on the Distribution System at Eversource Energy. In addition, the individual will plan and coordinate engineering assignments with projects related to the design, construction and operation of the distribution system, equipment and deal with a wide variety of field and staff functions at Eversource and our Operating Companies, as well as outside agencies and organizations.
Essential Functions:
* Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
* Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
* Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
* Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
* Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
* Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
* Maintains accurate records and files.
* Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
* Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
* Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.
* Familiarity with power related software is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Experience: Five to eight (5 to 8 years) related experience is required. Engineering design experience preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
* Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $122,010.00 to $135,570.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
Working Conditions:
* Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
* Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
* Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
