What We Need:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings - Operations team at Gunlocke in Wayland, NY. This role is ideal for a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
What You Will Do:
As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will play a key role in improving and maintaining our production processes. Your responsibilities will include:
* Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve work-in-process issues to minimize production delays and ensure product quality.
* Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for manufacturing process improvements and implement modifications to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
* Equipment Utilization: Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements to maximize utilization and effectiveness.
* Technical Design & Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create, modify, and update manufacturing layouts, tooling designs, and process schematics.
* Process Automation: Support the implementation of automated manufacturing solutions, including robotics, PLC programming, and smart manufacturing techniques.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with fellow engineers, production teams, and quality control personnel to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
* Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all manufacturing processes align with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
What You Have:
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field).
* Experience: A minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (internships and co-ops will be considered).
* Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for manufacturing layouts, tooling design, and process visualization.
o Experience with process automation, including PLC programming, robotics integration, and smart manufacturing technologies.
o Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve production challenges.
o Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, including:
+ RCI (Rapid Continuous Improvement)
+ 3P (Production Preparation Process)
+ Value Stream Mapping
+ Statistical Analysis for process improvement
