About the Company - Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 700 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster.
About the Role - Roxel is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth that includes the designing of new processes and equipment. A large part of this is the transfer of current manufacturing processes to newly built facilities. A requirement for a Process Safety Advisor has been identified to coordinate and contribute to an exciting project that will be designing a Future Factory for Roxel. The role will sit within the Future Factory project team, with a direct reporting line to the site Safety Function to the Process Safety Manager.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage process safety aspects of the future factory project, with particular focus on the processing of energetic materials.
* Provide expert guidance on current legal requirements for energetic material handling and design processes that comply with these requirements.
* Conduct risk assessments, safety studies and hazard analyses, ensuring all aspects of process safety are comprehensively addressed.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and interface with suppliers to ensure safety measures align with project objectives.
* Develop and implement process safety management systems, ensuring compliance with UK safety standards and best practice, utilising best available technology.
* Participate and coordinate safety reviews, hazard and operability studies, layers of protection analyses etc.
* Assist with the development of Explosive Licence applications in compliance to the Explosive Regulations 2014 for submission to HSE.
* Develop the COMAH Basis of Safety reports as required for processes affected by the Future Factory Project.
* Working in conjunction with the SHE Manager – provide input and guidance to building specifications to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
* Essential Qualifications
* Higher level qualification in science or engineering subject, such as HNC/HND.
* Desirable Qualifications
* Degree level qualification in a science or engineering subject.
* Process Safety Qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate or willing to work towards.
* Membership or accreditation by a chartered institute.
Required Skills
* Experience in high hazard industry (preferable explosives manufacturing).
* Experience and knowledge of the Explosive Regulations 2014 (HSE Publication L150).
* Understanding of Process Hazard Analysis techniques (HAZOP, PFMEA, LOPA, etc.).
Preferred Skills
* Experience of safety engineering in Upper Tier COMAH sites.
* Strong background and experience in safety engineering.
* Knowledge of explosives licensing.
