Term Time Only position – 39 working weeks per year.
The Forum School
The Forum School and Residential Home is a 52-week residential specialist school providing therapeutic care and education for young people with Autism, severe learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, and complex needs. The children and young people range from 7 to 19 years old and follow a school calendar aligned with Local Authority term dates.
The Forum School is working towards reshaping support for young people into adulthood, preparing them for employment and lifelong fulfillment.
Main Purpose of the Job
We seek a passionate individual interested in understanding ASD, childhood trauma, attachment, and loss. The Positive Behaviour Support Assistant will collaborate with our Behaviour Support Lead and teams in therapy, education, and residential care to deliver consistent, excellent approaches and responses.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate work with Clinical Psychology and the MDT to implement interventions.
* Write, review, and update Risk Assessments and Behaviour Support Plans.
* Support positive behaviour in young people.
* Observe team and young people to model positive behaviour support.
* Assist in planning and managing crises.
* Develop and deliver training on supportive interventions and positive behaviour support.
* Conduct staff debriefs after incidents and record learnings.
* Review incident reports, analyze data monthly, and conduct annual reviews.
Person Specification
* Experience in therapeutic educational or residential settings.
* Experience working with young people involved in social care (e.g., CiN, CP, CLA).
* Strong understanding of attachment and loss.
* Therapeutic training or qualifications.
* Psychological or counselling courses are desirable.
* Full driving license.
