Network & Security Engineer Northamptonshire - Northampton (8 miles), Towcester (9 miles), and Milton Keynes (11 miles) £35-45k Full-time, permanent, on-site with some international travel About the Role Join my client as a Network & Security Engineer and play an exciting role in delivering projects which aid governments in safeguarding their citizens. This is a permanent, full-time role, based in their offices in the UK, near Northampton with occasional international travel. The role includes building and maintaining infrastructure on customer platforms and providing support to system administrators of in house systems. The role will require configuration of switches and firewalls including the configuration of high availability protocols used within them, Stacking and HSRP/VRRP. There is ample opportunity to grow and progress through the business, learning new skills and diversifying in role. The role will suit someone with a broad interest in all aspects of IT, including hardware, software and OS. The ideal candidate will be organised and pragmatic, as the role is sometimes customer facing, the candidate should have clear communication skills and be presentable. The role is 100% office based and due to location would be preferable for the candidate to hold a full driving license. Essential Skills • Strong networking experience with multi-vendor switches/firewalls • Strong computer networking understanding and ability to troubleshoot • Familiarity with Routing technologies and SDWAN Overlays • Valid passport (or ability to obtain one) Desirable Skills • DBMSs (MySQL and/or MSSQL) • Cloud Technologies with an emphasis on security and stability • VCenter, VSphere • Conversational language Spanish/French/Portuguese • Operating systems including Linux, Ubuntu • IP cameras, base stations, VOIP phones • Internet of Things protocols, (MQTT and/or LoRaWAN) • Hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, mobile phones) • Delivering virtual and face to face training to users of varying technical abilities Should be confident with documenting methods for undertaking tasks Additional Information This is a permanent, full-time, office based role in the UK, near Northampton. The candidate is required to have their own transport due to the location. The successful applicant will be expected to attend the office daily as this is NOT a remote role.
