Key Activities
1. Create a welcoming environment within our hubs, taking telephone calls and referrals.
2. As part of a team, target known areas to assertively engage with rough sleepers/service users and respond to referrals where appropriate.
3. Build positive relationships with rough sleepers, working with them 1:1, empowering them to achieve their goals.
4. Carry necessary supplies such as food, paperwork, and other provisions.
5. Attend outreach centres, community venues, and satellite services to engage and support service users/rough sleepers.
6. Work closely with partner agencies and the community, including attending meetings where appropriate.
7. Support rough sleepers/service users by signposting and advocating for them to access support, being a central person between them and other services.
8. Ensure that you are aware of and follow the outreach risk assessment/risk management plans that are in place.
9. Keep records of your contacts.
10. Alongside staff, identify ways to remove barriers and find solutions to help engage rough sleepers/service users.
11. Offer and provide overdose awareness information/naloxone kit.
12. Provide confidential, easily accessible, non-judgmental advice around substance misuse, safer injecting, overdose, and what to do in an emergency.
13. Work with staff to identify service users who have disengaged from services.
14. Conduct home visits to engage service users.
In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:
1. Help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best service to our clients.
2. Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
3. Follow Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to our staff, volunteers, and clients.
4. Maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of our clients, adhering to Change Grow Live’s policies and procedures.
5. Meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed and give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible.
Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.
