JOB PURPOSE: New Model Launch is responsible for the introduction of a new model to an active Production Line and ensuring the Quality of the car allows it to be shipped to the first customers at the start of Job1. The role of the New Model Group Leader is to ensure pre-production vehicles are delivered to cost, quality and on time. This is a position that will be responsible for coaching and mentoring all direct reports, creating an environment of genuine employee empowerment to achieve ‘World Class’ standards. The incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership and clearly defined tasks to the Product Coaches to capture concerns, support engineering containments, reworks, strip downs and investigations with no/minimal disruption to Production volume during pre-production build phases. Grade: 8 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage resource to ensure all builds are always supported across the different production areas (Bodyshop, Paintshop, Trim Shop, T&F, Off Tracks). Responsible for driving Product Coaches to find all vehicle concerns at static build and pre-production build phase. Plan and coordinate Product Coach activities to support all areas of New Model Launch, including being present in daily start-ups. End of shift reports and tube maps to be filled out to communicate the latest build status with the Launch Leaders. Be the main communication channel between the different Production areas and the New Model Launch Leader / Manager. Ensure Production GLs are informed of the latest information of the pre-prod builds, highlighting any key problem areas. Support washup meetings during pre-production. Create washup sheets and confirm the standard of data inputted is sufficient with relevant information and pictures. Ensure timely raising and acceptance of issues from relevant owners for quick turnaround using “next vehicle containment” methodology. Review build information and present finished pre-production vehicles to end customer. Lead and confirm implementation of eCMS containments. Lead pre-build activities such as dry-builds, bay-builds, slow-builds, etc. Lead and manage the team for post build reworks including engineering containments or plant sweeps where necessary. Support NML activities such as line-walks and parts layouts. Manage the NML Nerve Centre and ensure SQDMCE targets are adhered to in line with Scorecard. Manage Product Coach overtime, holidays, WTF, shift pay and is recorded accordingly. Implement or be part of departmental improvement reviews / new process implementation. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE: The job requires team leadership and team development experience in the understanding of technician range of skills that are required within the area. Coaching and mentoring experience to enable effective team morale and performance. Able to identify team strengths and weaknesses and facilitate training needs. Requires a degree of business acumen to enable team reporting systems and procedures to operate effectively. Experience of ‘lean Manufacturing’ tools and techniques. Needs to have the ability to use diagnostic skills to determine faults and lead a team in the rectification of such faults. The job holder will require to have or be willing to undertake in Kaizen, Industrial Engineering, Quality and Process Management, Disciplinary procedure understanding as well as ISO 14001 appreciation. Computer Literate Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence others. Enthusiastic and determined, highly self-motivated. Flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production targets. Full UK Driving Licence. The post holder will be required to comply with all policies and procedures issued by and on behalf of Aston Martin Lagonda ltd. This role is offered on a secondment basis for a period of 10 months. All production employees are required to align with fixed holidays throughout the year in line with production shutdowns. Your annual leave ‘floating days’ are on a pro-rota basis based on your start date and can be taken outside of those shutdowns.
