An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Health Care Assistant to work within the Vale Minor Injury and Illness (MIIU) team.
The successful applicant will support the Emergency Practitioners, Staff Nurses, and Paramedics to provide the highest standard of care to all patients who present to Vale MIIU.
The MIIU is open 8am - 8pm, 7 days a week, offering either appointments or a walk-in service to any patient with a minor injury or illness.
The successful candidate will be passionate about ensuring that any patient in need of our service receives the highest standard of evidence-based care with respect and compassion.
While training can be offered in specific skills, the successful applicant will need recent experience of patient care in an acute urgent care setting and should be keen to work as part of a team while being able to carry out delegated tasks autonomously.
Main Duties of the Job
* Responsible for working with colleagues and managers to provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
* Entering patient details onto clinical systems such as SystemOne.
* Ordering of sterile supplies.
* Answering telephone calls and assisting with patient and professional inquiries.
* Maintaining cleaning schedules and controlling stock, equipment, and materials.
* Contributing to promoting health and safety, minimizing risk in the workplace.
* Maintaining allocated link roles such as Moving and Handling Trainer & Fire Warden.
* Booking patients into MIIU.
* Performing Clinical Observations, Visual Survey, NEWS scores, Plastering, wound care, ECGs.

As a Health Care Assistant/Support Worker, you will be responsible for participating in and assisting with the delivery of care/services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistants, Social Care Workers, and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in the Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard and to challenge others who are not.
This role requires staff to work a variety of hours over a 7-day week.
Person Specification
IT Skills
* Knowledge & experience using IT systems.
Qualifications
* NVQ Health Care Level 3 or willingness to progress to level 3 within 1 year.
* Care certificate.
Experience
* Significant and recent experience within a healthcare setting.

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum pro rata.
