Are you passionate about social justice and community engagement? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Archivist to lead this London Boroughs Social Justice Archive. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with local communities and stakeholders to document and preserve the rich history of social justice.
What You'll Do:
As our Archivist, you will play a crucial role in:
Archive Management: Oversee the acquisition, processing, cataloguing, and conservation of archival materials, ensuring accessibility in line with national standards.
Community Engagement: Foster meaningful relationships with local communities, partner organisations, and stakeholders to enhance public access and participation in the archive.
Public Programming: Develop and deliver educational activities and outreach initiatives that empower individuals to share their stories and lived experiences.
Digital Archive Management: Manage and provide access to digital archives, ensuring robust policies and standards are in place.
Financial Management: Exercise responsible budget management and contribute to funding applications to sustain the archive's long-term viability.
Who You Are:
We're looking for someone who:
* Holds a professional Archivist or collections management qualification or has substantial relevant experience.
* Has experience managing both physical and digital collections with a keen eye for detail.
* Is skilled in public programming and outreach, particularly within diverse communities.
* Understands trauma-informed practises and the regulatory landscape, including Freedom of Information and Data Protection.
* Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to connect with a wide range of audiences.
* Can demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
