Position: Pupil Support Mentor – Autism Support
Salary Range: £12.82 per hour
Location: Bournemouth
Start Date: After October half term
Working Hours: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
GSL Education is supporting a local school in seeking a Learning Support Mentor to support with pupils with autism.
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will be providing support and contributing to the growth and development of the primary school students with additional needs, through interventions, differentiated approaches and individualised strategies. Although the school is mainstream primary, you will be supporting students with Special Education Needs on a 1:1 or small group basis. Therefore, previous experience or knowledge of SEN is crucial.
The position is open for candidates who are looking for longer-term positions, as well as those seeking something temporary. Ideally the candidate will be full-time, however part-time applicants will also be considered for the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow individual education and behaviour plans so that support is consistent and effective for pupils.
Provide personalised support to students, ensuring that EHCPs are effectively implemented and reviewed.
Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging positive behaviour through effective engagement strategies.
Help organise and prepare teaching materials, ensuring the classroom is well-equipped for effective learning and ensures it is accessible for all pupils.
Collaborate with teaching staff and fellow assistants to enrich the educational environment and support the school's success.
