This role involves manufacturing and assembling prototype bus bodies according to customer specifications. The job holder will act as a critical interface between prototype build and production assembly, liaising with Planning, Engineering, and Production to ensure the efficient introduction of new vehicles. Additionally, they will generate ideas and concepts, ensuring all work is practically replicable for mass production. The Role: Able to fabricate complex parts and assemblies for prototype body builds. Able to interpret complex part assembly schematics and follow verbal instructions. Able to move between distinct operations in development while maintaining quality workmanship and efficiency. Responsible for fitting and assembly of metal, wood, and laminate components to vehicles during the assembly process as per customer and build specifications. Ensure promotion of design for manufacture and continuous improvement projects, ensuring savings in time and materials with engineering. Responsible for compliance with Health and Safety policy procedures. Ensure safe operation of plant, equipment, and hand tools associated with manufacturing, fitting, or assembly of components. Providing support to production assemblies, ensuring bespoke jigs, temps, and fixtures are fit for purpose, and passing on critical build component knowledge practically and where necessary, documented. Responsible for training or retraining associated with the post or new working practices. Ensure clear communication between departments by attending and reporting on prototype build issues at RxR meetings, suggesting improvements, and highlighting suspected poor work practices to the development manager. Responsible for product confidentiality concerning development activities. Undertake other duties conducive to the effective operation of the post. The Requirements NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent Experience in the assembly of aluminium, steel and GRP components.
