General Responsibilities:
The Senior Compensation Analyst is a vital member of the Human Resources Compensation team at UAB, playing a key role in ensuring our compensation programs are competitive, equitable, and compliant with industry standards. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive compensation programs, as well as conducting market and equity reviews to help attract, retain, and motivate top talent. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of compensation best practices, market trends, salary survey methodologies, regulatory requirements, and relevant technologies. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with staff, faculty, leadership, team members, and third-party vendors.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive compensation programs that align with institutional goals and market standards.
2. Perform market analysis and internal equity reviews to ensure competitive and fair compensation practices.
3. Participate in salary surveys using market pricing systems to maintain current market data for informed compensation decisions.
4. Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to review and evaluate job descriptions, ensuring alignment with job structures and responsibilities.
5. Stay updated on compensation trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to recommend continuous improvements.
6. Develop detailed reports and presentations on compensation strategies, market competitiveness, and compliance.
7. Work closely with staff, faculty, leadership, and third-party vendors to develop and maintain effective compensation strategies.
8. Utilize HRIS and other information systems to analyze large data sets, leveraging tools such as pivot tables to identify trends, gain insights, and develop reports and charts.
Salary Range: $72,000.00 to $94,000.00
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Five (5) years of related experience required.
3. Master’s degree preferred.
4. Certification as a CCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
5. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.

This position is based on site at the UAB office in Birmingham, Alabama. Hybrid/remote work arrangements may be considered after six months of employment, subject to performance and departmental needs.
