This post is based at the Croft Community School which is a generic special school for pupils who have moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties or Autism Spectrum Conditions.
Croft Community School is federated with Evergreen Primary School at Bishop Auckland and The Oaks Secondary School at Spennymoor and there may be a requirement to work at these schools.
The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic Behaviour and Pastoral Manager who is familiar with school systems for Behaviour, Attendance and Safeguarding.
The successful candidate should:
1. Have recent experience in a school or education setting.
2. Have the ability to establish good relationships with pupils and adults.
3. Be responsible for the leadership and management of attendance, behaviour and parental support.
4. Advise and implement the day to day pastoral support that allows the school to operate effectively.
5. Manage class-based support staff.
6. Manage attendance of pupils across the school, including working with families, liaising with the LA and carry out strategic analysis of data to provide to the Head of School.
7. Manage the day to day systems in place for behaviour and support pupils on an individual or small group basis to improve self-esteem, behaviour or social and emotional skills, working in partnership with the class teacher. This also includes de-escalation.
8. Have experience of working within attendance policies in school.
9. Be calm, caring, and passionate about making a difference.
10. Be dedicated to our school values and ethos.
11. Be self-motivated, reliable and positive with the ability to use initiative.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
1. Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks;
2. Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days);
3. Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days).
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
