Learning Support Assistants (LSA) – 2:1 Support for Student with ASD, ADHD, and Epilepsy
Position : 2:1 Support | Start Date : Immediate
We are seeking two experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to provide 2:1 support for a student with ASD, ADHD, and Epilepsy. The student is capable of initiating engagement and has some verbal communication, particularly when calm and relaxed. They have high sensory needs and can experience behaviours when highly anxious, so experience with positive behaviour support is preferred.
The student enjoys swimming, trampolining, trains, and using technology. They also use a mobility vehicle to access the community, and the support team will accompany them during these activities. This role requires patience, flexibility, and a strong understanding of supporting students with complex needs, including the ability to work closely with the student to support them in managing sensory needs and anxiety.
Key Responsibilities :
* Provide 2:1 support to the student throughout the day, ensuring their safety and engagement in activities
* Assist the student with their sensory needs and help manage anxiety when triggered
* Support the student in community-based activities such as swimming, trampolining, and train travel
* Encourage communication, particularly when the student is calm and relaxed, to help foster independence
* Collaborate with other staff to ensure effective implementation of positive behaviour support strategies
* Help the student engage with technology and other interests, offering support when needed
* Ensure the student’s physical and emotional needs are met, providing reassurance during moments of anxiety or discomfort
Essential Skills & Qualities :
* Experience with ASD, ADHD, and Epilepsy, or a willingness to learn and adapt
* Knowledge of or experience with positive behaviour support
* Ability to provide 2:1 support and maintain a calm and supportive environment for the student
* Understanding of sensory needs and how to manage and accommodate them
* Experience in supporting students during community activities and helping with mobility
* Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
* Previous experience with SEND (preferred)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
