Deputy Nursery Manager
Reports to: Nursery Manager
Working hours:
* Shift basis between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm
* Monday - Friday
* 40 hours per week
* Salary from £24,000.00 - £27,000.00 (Depending on skills and qualifications)
Main responsibilities:
* To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years
* To deputise for the Nursery Manager
* To be responsible for leading a room
* To ensure the nursery environment is safe for children, staff and others
* To be responsible for opening and closing the nursery when required
* To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development
Main activities:
* To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
* To deliver an appropriate play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress and to support other staff in doing so.
* Maintain good relationships with staff to support the welfare of the team.
* To be enthusiastic, fun and engaging with children to promote excellent learning opportunities.
* To ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
* To undertake designated safeguarding lead roles as directed.
* To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
* To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
* Work closely with the nursery managers to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day duties.
* To be a key person.
* To ensure records are properly maintained.
* To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents' involvement.
* To work in partnership with Managers to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
* Check and maintain ratios across the nursery throughout the day.
* To be involved in out of working hours activities e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, open days etc.
* Maintain cleanliness of the whole nursery building and ensure all kitchenettes and toilets in rooms are clean, safe and tidy.
* Maintain attendance registers.
* Ensure dietary and allergy requirements are met.
* Regular deep cleaning and sterilising of equipment and resources.
* Parent show-arounds for new and prospective families.
* To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery ethos.
