Job summary
Sunderland Integrated Musculoskeletal Service (SIMS) is looking to recruit a Personal Medical Secretary to join a newly developing Secretarial support team within the Division of Community.
Who are SIMS?
SIMS is a multidisciplinary team of specialist Physiotherapists, GPs, and Consultants with expertise in Musculoskeletal conditions affecting mobility, function, and well-being. We work in partnership with patients and other health professionals on treatment goals that are centred on patient needs. We help our patients improve flexibility, strength, balance, and mobility to obtain the best possible outcome, regain life independence, reduce pain, and maximise potential.
We accept referrals directly from GPs for anyone over the age of 16 years. We provide full assessment, investigations, treatment, and rehabilitation. We can access Secondary care services such as Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, and Pain Management at any point in the pathway to ensure that the patient sees the right practitioner at the right time and place.
Main duties of the job
As Clinical Outcome Secretary, you will be expected to deliver the full Clinic on the Day process for the Division of Community, as part of a team of General Medical Secretaries, including taking responsibility for:
1. Clinic letter typed and given to the patient.
2. Clinic letter uploaded into Medisec and a copy sent to the GP as needed.
3. Negotiating appointments with patients in clinic where appropriate (< 6 weeks).
4. Booking appointments where appropriate (< 6 weeks).
5. Negotiating Radiology investigation date/time and communicating to the patient.
6. Negotiating any diagnostic investigation date/time and communicating to the patient.
7. Validating the patient's pathway in real-time.
8. Completing all tasks (Cashing up) clinics in real-time including booking out and outcomes.
9. Liaising with the Personal Medical Secretary and Scheduling Manager regarding the patient's pathway and appointments and any instructions/outcomes from the clinic.
Working hours
The post will work between the hours of 08:30 am - 17:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Job responsibilities
Clinic Outcome Secretary - Part Time 29.5 Hours per week
1. Deliver the full Clinic on the Day process for the Division of Community.
2. Take responsibility for clinic letters and patient communication.
3. Manage appointment scheduling and liaise with healthcare professionals.
